LVIV STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

DanyloHalytskyLviv National Medical University (LNMU) is one of the oldest and biggest medical educational institutions in Ukraine. It is one of the leading medical universities of the IV level of accreditation. LNMU begins from the Medical Faculty of Lviv University, which was opened on November 16, 1784.

22 scientific schools actively function and develop in University: of obstetrics and gynecology, biochemical, hygienic, of infectious diseases, of history of medicine and pharmacy, microbiological, morphological, of neurology and neurosurgery, of oncology, of orthohynolaryngology, ophthalmological, of pathological anatomy and pathological physiology, pediatric, psychiatric, of dentistry, of internal diseases, pharmacological, physiological, of phyisiatry, of chemistry and pharmacy, of surgery.

Lviv National Medical University in the Member of International and European Associations of Universities, and also is the member of almost 70 another international organizations, academies, federations. University is included into Directory of World Health Organization (WHO) and into Directory of Universities of Central European countries. In terms of University activities LNMU has the leading positions in ratings of higher educational institutions and higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine (Scopus 2010 – the 2nd place among medical universities and academies of Ukraine).

Currently, 1,137 foreign nationals from nearly 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America are being trained at the University, of which more than 80 percent are English language learners.
Clinical training of students, interns and students of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education is conducted at 50 clinical departments, which are located at 155 departments of clinical bases in 50 medical and preventive establishments of the city of Lviv, as well as Lutsk, Rivne, Truskavets. All clinical bases have the necessary number of specialists of high qualification, a sufficient level of material and technical base and the necessary premises and agreements between the higher education institution and the medical-preventive institution, which establish the forms of relations, rights, duties and responsibilities of each party. The University also has its own clinical base – the Dental Center with 1,480 visits per shift.
