ABOUT US
La Trobe has been one of Australia’s pioneering universities for more than 50 years.
In 1967, 552 students enrolled at La Trobe University, the third university to open in Victoria, which has grown to accommodate more than 36,000 students, with over 7,000 international students from 110 countries.
We now have a network of campuses, with over 28,000 students at our Melbourne Campus and over 7,500 at our campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Mildura, Melbourne City (Collins Street), Shepparton and Sydney.
Over 200,000 students from around the world have received a qualification from La Trobe, and many of our alumni have gone on to make significant contributions to their communities.
La Trobe is recognised for its research strengths at a global level. We are Australia’s leading university in biochemistry and cell biology research, rated ‘well above world standard’ in these fields by the Excellence in Research for Australia initiative. La Trobe is also rated at or above world standard in research fields including: biological sciences, condensed matter physics, human movement and sports science.

La Trobe University has been ranked in the world’s top 400 universities by all three major independent ranking agencies. That makes us one of the world’s best young universities.
According to Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) – La Trobe University is ranked at 307 in the world.
The Times Higher Education World University rankings 2020 placed La Trobe at 291 and ranked us 52nd globally in their 2019 Golden Age Rankings.
The 2020 QS World University Rankings has La Trobe University ranked joint 400th in the world.
In the 2018/2019 QS Graduate Employability Rankings the University ranks 14th in Australia and fourth in Victoria (and in the top 300 universities globally).
Our graduates rated second among Victorian universities and eighth nationally by Australian employers for overall satisfaction in the 2017 Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) Employer Satisfaction Survey with a rating of 86.6 per cent.

Own bedroom located on a shared floor, with access to a kitchen or you can also opt for the convenience of having some meals catered in the Glenn Dining Hall.
Bendigo Campus
Own bedroom located within a shared residence, with access to a kitchen.
Bendigo undergraduate students share a central lounge building called the Common Room which provides plenty of opportunities to socialize with your fellow residents.
Albury- Wodonga
With a modern and spacious design, this 28 bed residence has shared common areas; fully furnished kitchen, lounge/dining, bathrooms, and laundry. Bedrooms are spacious and individually climate controlled.
